This is a series of tracks that accompany the mbira teaching manual
Mbira Maestro - Learning Mbira Dzavadzimu with William Chitauro:
from the very basics to deep compexity, using parts and variations of a tune Chinyanyanga composed by William in the Shona mbira tradition.
The tracks provide an aural accompaniment to the manual to allow the learner to hear what is presented as notation. The mbira tradition in Shona culture is very much an aural one. Tunes are conveyed from generation to generation by listening and copying then playing and being corrected.
We hope this can go some way to helping spread this way of learing and playing around the world to those who may not be able to have access to an mbira teacher from the Shona culture itself.
The first introductory module and audio files can be obtained here for free but if you feel you wish to make a donation please do and I will make sure the whole amount goes to William.
Module 1 text is available free in the bonus items section or at this link:
